Job Summary:
Intern will support the communications team to develop meaningful campaigns for the Latinx and immigrant community as well as to deliver timely and culturally appropriate information in an accessible manner that takes in consideration literacy levels, technological disparities and language access that goes beyond translation.
The intern will gain practical work experience in language access through a digital platform, develop an understanding for language justice, digital storytelling, and have opportunities to shadow consulting projects through our non-profit organization. This intern position supports and operationalizes our commitment to Language Justice.
Reports: This position works in collaboration with the Communications team and reports to the Media Liaison and support person on the team.
Required skills for the project:
- Focus on community and able to work in teams
- Strong social media skills
- Fluent in Spanish (strongly recommended but not required)
- Excellent written communication skills
- Experience using Canva
- Knowledge of Google Suite (Google Docs, Forms, Sheets, etc)
- Able to work in multiple campaigns simultaneously
Preferable qualifications but not required
- Basic photographic and video/audio skills
- HTML experience
- Familiarity with GoDaddy
- SEO and Google Analytics
- Graphic design experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
La Casita will support student to explore new areas of interest through an additional project if the student would like to produce a final product by the end of internship.

With this mentality La Casita communication strategy uses LGBTQ+ inclusive language, and terminology geared accessible to pre-literate Spanish speakers through bilingual social media platforms, visual based campaigns, and the use of gender neutral terms in Spanish. This is to promote and increase inclusivity through our messaging.
