Job Summary:

Intern will support the communications team to develop meaningful campaigns for the Latinx and immigrant community as well as to deliver timely and culturally appropriate information in an accessible manner that takes in consideration literacy levels, technological disparities and language access that goes beyond translation. 


The intern will gain practical work experience in language access through a digital platform, develop an understanding for language justice, digital storytelling, and have opportunities to shadow consulting projects through our non-profit organization. This intern position supports and operationalizes our commitment to Language Justice.


Reports: This position works in collaboration with the Communications team and reports to the Media Liaison and support person on the team. 


Required skills for the project: 

- Focus on community and able to work in teams 

- Strong social media skills 

- Fluent in Spanish (strongly recommended but not required) 

- Excellent written communication skills 

- Experience using Canva 

- Knowledge of Google Suite (Google Docs, Forms, Sheets, etc)

- Able to work in multiple campaigns simultaneously 


Preferable qualifications but not required 

- Basic photographic and video/audio skills

- HTML experience 

- Familiarity with GoDaddy 

- SEO and Google Analytics 

- Graphic design experience 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Participate in the weekly staff meeting and communication meetings 
  • Supports the communication team to develop local communication initiatives
  • Support in updating the different social media and online platforms 
  • Develop content for infographics and visual resources for the community
  • Assist with the logistics of online programing 
  • Assist with the data collation and reporting of the communication strategies performance 

La Casita will support student to explore new areas of interest through an additional project if the student would like to produce a final product by the end of internship.
